Unlearned Histories -'Hope Foreshadows Horror'

4 Oct 2026 – 12 Oct 2026

Tangelo House Gallery, Milton NSW

Examining Australia's political relationship with the US and Israel and how this impacts us at home, in Palestine and Lebanon. The 'Horror' Series stylistically reflects 'Pop Art', popular mid 1950's - 1970's, with its flashy bold colours that captured consumer culture and the Mass Media during the VN war and now reflective of Western Governments and their mainstream Media's response to the current Middle East crisis. The 'Hope' series stylistically represents naive paintings, more typical of folk art and commonly seen in children's picture books, to represent the idea that those opposed to ethnic cleansing and occupation in Lebanon and the West Bank and the genocide in Gaza, yet choose to remain hopeful of a better future, are seen to be 'overly idealistic' and therefore, naive.
