Horror - Palestine

Here the ancient olive groves are being demolished by VOLVO excavators in the West Bank. Product placement in paintings was a strong feature of Pop Art typified in Andy Warhol's, Campbell's Soup Cans (1962). VOLVO cars, considered to be a luxury European vehicle, made in Sweden, a 'civilized nation', are perceived here in their shadow reality, where VOLVO now owned by the Chinese Multinational Company - Geely Holding Group, that manufacture heavy constructive equipment responsible for devastating the land and the Palestinian's generational livelihoods that comes from producing olive oil.

The F35 jet bomber planes and drones have turned Gaza into a dystopian wasteland, with near 75,000 deaths accounted for and many thousands yet to be identified being either under the rubble or totally obliterated. In this land, all traces of bird life and vegetation, including the beautiful Sunbirds and delicate Red Poppies have gone. Yet the Palestinian's resilience, known in Arabic as samud, with their sheer determination to survive under insufferable conditions is testament to their courage, unity and forbearance to create life where all people, both Arab Muslim and Christians and Jews alike, can coexist in peace and harmony as they did for many, many centuries before Zionism, an ethno-centric, secular movement dominated when Israel became a nation state in 1948, destroying Palestinian life through the Nakba, when over 800,00 Palestinians were forced into exile with never a chance to return.
