Here Mother Gaia appears with a blue face, symbolic of gods and goddesses in Indian art. Her revered essence signifies her centrality to the survival of our land from the ravishes of climate disasters. Materializing out of a Eucalyptus tree she reveals nature's beauty, and resilience in surviving extreme conditions along with her medicinal offerings. The three circles that appear on her head dress and belt are symbolic of the 'Chintaminti' or 'Philosopher's Stone'. This represents Australia's mineral wealth, which in a 'hopeful' world would not be exploited for foreign investor's gain but viewed as the building block of all life, providing the minerals within the soil that generate plants which humans rely on for our survival.
The Wattle represents resilience, being the first plant to regenerate after a bush fire. For over 60,000 years our Indigenous Australians used wattle for food, medicine and as the marker of seasons. On Remembrance Day, veterans wear a sprig of wattle to symbolize that the battles fought will never be forgotten.
Magpies known for their intelligence and their beautiful warbling song are perceived by the Indigenous people as representing balance in duality, which can only come from protecting the land, all people and with being socially and politically responsible in both our national and global politics.
All proceeds will go to UNICEF - 'Children of Gaza Crisis'.
